Finding good images for your startup’s website and print materials is often time consuming and expensive. There are plenty websites to buy images from but they aren’t cheap. Unless you have a friend who is a photographer creating your own images won’t be any easier. But luckily you can have access to millions of images for free – yes that’s right we aren’t making it up, free usage of millions of images even for commercial projects!
How does this work? With the Creative Commons licensing agreements artists allow their work to be used by others. There are several different versions of the license, but there is one that includes free use for commercial work. CC licenses not only images but other forms of media, so you can look for music or videos to use too.
How to Find CC Images:
- Searches through different sites that host CC media. This includes Youtube, Open ClipArt Library, Flickr among others.

- click on the “Advanced Search” link at the bottom of your Google search scroll down the bottom of the options page where you’ll find “Usage Rights” select the type of license you want to use.
